ESG CONCLAVE 2025

FROM COMPLIANCE TO SUSTAINABILITY

Introduction

In recent years, the evolving regulatory landscape in India has placed ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) at the center of responsible business conduct. With mandates such as SEBI’s Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) and the Companies Act’s CSR provisions, organizations are now expected to go beyond checkboxes – integrating sustainability into their core strategy.

However, in many cases, CSR remains compliance-driven while ESG is seen as an investor-centric exercise, leading to siloed efforts that dilute long-term impact. Operating CSR and ESG in silos increases the risk of greenwashing, while inconsistent disclosures may erode investor trust. Furthermore, fragmented approaches reduce the effectiveness of CSR spending and compromise strategic coherence.

The ESG Conclave—”From “Compliance to Sustainability”—aims to bridge that gap, to explore how CSR and ESG can converge to create unified frameworks for ethical governance, inclusive development, and environmental stewardship.

It would serve as a premier platform for industry leaders, policymakers, NGOs, and academia to discuss how India can move from fragmented compliance to integrated sustainability, making responsible business not just a mandate, but a mindset.

Through multi-stakeholder collaboration, the National CSR Network’s ESG Conclave aims to develop a roadmap for businesses to embed ESG considerations into CSR strategies, ensuring long-term value creation. The conclave will spotlight innovative approaches, emerging technologies, and best practices that enable organizations to move beyond compliance towards meaningful impact.
